How many of you wear an linen apron, or get your little ones to wear an apron when you are all gathering in the kitchen, cooking or baking? If you don’t already then you should start today as there are some really good reasons why you should always wear an apron in the kitchen and after reading them, we hope you’ll always keep your linen apron handy!

Everyone knows the main function of a kitchen bib – it protects your clothes from getting all messy and stained. Also, you can use it to wipe your hands if you don’t have a towel near you and need to do it quickly. But, more importantly, a linen apron will not only protect your clothes, but also cover your skin with another layer of fabric, so if you get some hot water or oil splashed to your apron it will reduce the risk of getting burned. It can easily be removed away from the body in a moment – not so easy to do with your clothes!

Furthermore, wearing an apron will help stop any transfer of germs from clothes to the food. Everyone knows to wash your hands before starting to cook but what about the clothes you’ve had on all morning? Have the kids been out playing in the garden? Rolling around the floor? Do you really want these germs in your lovely home baking? Grab a lovely linen kitchen apron and protect your food from the nasty germs.

And a final reason why all of you should always wear an apron in the kitchen is that a good apron will help act as a shield, if the gas hob is on, an apron will help hold in any loose clothing and make it harder for anything to accidently drag over the flames and catch fire – unlikely perhaps but do you want to risk it! This also works on such devices as blenders, mixers and others, an apron will help you protect your clothes from getting caught in them.
