We are very excited to introduce a new interview series on the LinenMe News blog. Each month we will be asking a guest to name and describe 5 Good Things that are important to them.

The idea is to give you a snapshot of someone's life and to get an inspirational glimpse of the things that matter to them, whether that's precious household linens or time in Nature, a favourite coffee maker or a book they'd never lend. You know how you might go to someone's house and be dying to ask about the things they have around, things that tell a story about their lives? Or those Instagram pictures that pique your curiosity (/nosiness) and basically make you want to ask where everything is from? Well this series does just that.

We will be featuring guests from a range of backgrounds: retailers, chefs, interiors stylists, wellbeing consultants, bloggers and photographers. And if you know someone you think should be featured, drop us a comment and we'll find out more.

Our first guest is Ted Kennedy Watson, a retailer and entrepreneur from Seattle. Ted sources beautiful, eclectic household items and his shops are a veritable treasure trove of delights. From Salt Water Taffy to silver goblets, his shelves are adorned with pretty much everything you could want in your home. So, what does Ted hold dear in his own home?

Sit back and enjoy a moment in his world.

Homewares

summer table linens

For housewares, I am so lucky that I don’t have to look any further than my own shops, Watson Kennedy We stock linens, glassware, tabletop, art, vintage objects. I get to be my own customer every once in a while and take all my favorite things home…

Clothes

For clothes, I am a huge fan of the French line, Faconnable. I love their shirts and even find ‘vintage’ ones. Tons of color. I also love Burberry, L.L. Bean and Brooks Brothers.

Travel essentials

For travel, comfort is key in our family. We live in Seattle but also have a home in the Hudson Valley in New York, so we  often travel between there and home. A big L.L. Bean Boat & Tote bag filled with snacks for the flight (popcorn, nuts, sparkling water, crackers and cheese) plus tons of cooking and design magazines.

Relaxation

To relax, I love to be at our beachside cottage on Vashon Island on the weekends. To hear the sound of the lapping waves while we cook, nap, read. It is my tonic.

Inspiration

I have written a daily blog post over at tedkennedywatson.com for the last seven plus years, so inspiration is always at the top of my list as I write each day about what inspires me. Flowers, gift giving, manners, table settings. Living life well each day is always the goal. To see all the lovely details swirling around me. We just have to keep our eyes open to seeing it all.

Thanks so much Ted. We love how you surround yourself with things that bring you joy - no wonder you seem to be smiling in every photograph! If you haven't already we strongly advise you to have a browse around his shop. To find out more about what Ted's up to at Watson Kennedy you can find him here and here.
