Why choose yellow?

Across nearly all cultures yellow represents positivity and happiness. It is the most easily visible colour to the human eye (which is why it's used so often on road signs and emergency vehicles), and is known to stimulate the left, rational side of our brains. Yellow is also associated with enthusiasm, curiosity, communication, originality, warmth and optimism, which makes it a great choice for your home.

It's also a colour that needs to be used with a dollop of caution. Too much can feel overpowering and induce anxiety, so use it to add pops of colour across your interior. It also reflects light so it's great for brightening up a room, but just not in great swathes. Think scatter cushions, a feature wall, a gold-tinged wool throw. There are several tones of the colour: lemon, gold, ochre, mustard or saffron, for example. Deeper yellows, like mustards, look amazing with navy or greys, whilst brighter, paler yellows look best with fresh greens or clean whites. Use yellow as an accent to liven up your home without the need for a major overhaul.

Here are six of our fabulous products that all come in a shade of yellow.

Stonewashed linen bedlinen set in citrine

This is the perfect way to bring summer into your bedroom. Pair with blue cushions or muted grey curtains for an on-trend look. You'll wake up refreshed and thinking of poached eggs and daffodils.

Linen napkins in citrine

In the same shade as the bedlinen above, our Lara citrine napkins will add some bold yet not overwhelming colour to your table setting. These are great for summer and will work nicely with the greens of leafy salads and bright reds of fresh strawberries and tomatoes.

Cushion cover in citrine

Another in our citrine range, this understated yet cheery linen cushion cover is the ideal way to bring a pop of yellow into a bedroom or lounge. These covers look lovely against navy or grey sofas or bedlinen, but would also work with neutrals and whites.

Citron linen scarf in lemon

In a lighter, more zesty shade of yellow, the Garza scarf in citron will add a gentle glowy yellow to a summer outfit. Pair with a tan bag, crisp white shirt and navy culottes for a pulled-together yet laid-back look. Linen scarves are brilliantly versatile: wear round your neck, draped over your shoulders, or even as a beach cover-up over a swimsuit.

Linen waffle towels in citrine

Our super-soft, highly absorbent waffle towels are available in citrine, and look beautiful in both colourful and minimalist interiors. Too good to hide away in a cupboard, hang these (they have a loop for easy hanging) in full view, or stack on a shelf with some zingy green succulents for a tropical feel.

Linen bag in citrine

If you don't want to confine yellow to indoors, grab one of our slouchy linen tote bags in citrine. This will lift your outfit in a subtle way, and looks great with neutrals, navy and pale pinks. Roomy, soft and easy to care for, a sunny linen bag may be just the thing to add a spring in your step, whatever the season.
